NSS

Since the inception of the NSS Unit in the College, the volunteers have been encouraged to participate in social and environmental development activities.

Routine NSS programme include:

• Campus cleaning.

• Cleaning of slum roads and drains.

• AIDS awareness programmes.

• Plantation of trees, their preservation and upkeep.

• A 10 day special camp in a target area with the theme 'Youth for adult education'.

• It has also adopted a village for developmental activities.

Activities

The NSS motto "NOT ME BUT YOU" expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and to show consideration for fellow human beings. With this motto, our College NSS unit was started on 5th July, 1995. This Unit began with strength of 100 volunteers.

The activities of NSS Unit are encouraged in the following ways:

• One of our Lecturers from Commerce Department given an additional charge to act as Programme Officer of the NSS Unit.

• There is an Advisory Committee for giving guidance and suggessions to undertake various programmes of NSS within and outside the college campus. The Advisory Committee of NSS Unit consists, Rev.Fr. Principal as Chairman, Programme Officer as Secretary and six committee members from different fields.

• The whole year NSS programmes are jointly decided and implemented by the Programme Officer, the two Programme Assistants and the Fourteen Group leaders with the approval of NSS Advisory Committee of our College.

• The programme officer and other Teaching Staff are relieved whenever they have to participate the activities of NSS and other extension activities.

• The students are encouraged to participate all the field and campus activities which are being conducted by the College NSS unit as well as the State NSS Cell in and around Pondicherry.

  The college avails all the scholarships given by both Central and State Government. The college helps students by providing them guidance in getting the scholarship.

• PRAYER CELL

  The Prayer Cell holds its sessions every Monday and Thursday at 5:00 pm.

• Mass will be held on the 1st Friday of every month at 4:40 pm.

• In October, the month of Holy Rosary, the rosary will be said daily.

• A yearly Retreat for staff and students will be conducted.

• Daily Assembly Reading of Scriptures, Reflection, Prayer, Hymn, News Reading, Thought for the Day.
